The Butterfly Effect - Mini Giclee
By: Patrick Parker
Description: Derived from the theory that a small act in one place can create a much more significant change somewhere else, even though they seem unrelated. The butterfly represents the Void, with the colors again representing the other elements. The rays radiating outward from the butterfly symbolize how such small acts, such as a butterfly beating its wings or someone picking up a piece of trash on the beach, can grow exponentially and influence many other things. I used the Fibonacci sequence in this painting to visually show how that exponential growth can occur. The gold (sun) and silver (moon) Yin and Yang symbol with the aligning of the Chakras, represents the balance needed in nature to create conditions for a caterpillar to transform into a butterfly, thus shedding its past and transcending to its ultimate path in life. The Fruit of Life symbol also visually represents the change from a fruit, with a seed of potential, growing into a beautiful tree.
