Finding the Flow Limited Edition Collage

This collage was inspired by a photo that Brian Wyland took of a stream on the island of Kauai. He captured the image hiking up the lush area surrounding Mount Wai’ale’ale, known as one of the wettest place on earth, getting about 450 inches of rainfall a year. I wanted to make a collage version that would bring the image to life with more texture.

This Limited Edition Collage looks like the original and is limited to 45 signed and numbered pieces. Each one is a composite using layers created from the original image to build up textures. The final composition is created on a mirror background and has cutouts to expose this mirror in key places to act as a light source and to create movement when viewed. Each Limited Edition Collage is hand made by the artist using the same process and materials used for his original collages. It is then fitted into a custom hand made reclaimed wood frame made by Alex Cox on the North Shore of Oahu which means that each Limited Edition Collage is a unique one of a kind hand crafted piece of art.

For every edition, numbers 1-5 are exclusively available here at 9th Wave Gallery. Numbers 2-5 all have additional layers of collage pieces adding extra depth and texture which creates an extra pop to each piece. Number 1 of each edition is comprised the most detail and layering of collage pieces that closely replicates the look and feel of the original collage.
