Discover and explore the 2013 collection of Hawaiian Surf Artist Danielle Zirkelbach Fenwick with this book that includes some of her best works from 2013 along with the special stories behind each one of them. Danielle's work explores depths of the mind and the heart of life not known by many other people. The story behind the artist, her work, and the reason she is the artist of change is a story that she hopes will help inspire people to be free from fear. This book is an exploration of her work and the inner workings of the things she is trying to tell the world.

Danielle struggles with a severe case of dyslexia, and has spent much of her life being corrected by others and rarely heard. Reading and writing is a frustrating and tiring challenge that she has been determined to overcome by writing and publishing her own words entirely on her own. "Dyslexia is something that you can never get rid of" Danielle pleas, "and no matter how many times I learn left and left, and right is right, my mind finds a ways to trick me and go around the logical way to interpret things." Intense schooling made it manageable for her, but it has always remained a ball and chain that has kept her fearful of the critical world, forcing her to hid from it. She explains that most people would interrupt her in the middle of writing a sentence, instead of just listen to what she was trying to say. That is until she found a brush and canvas. Danielle found her voice with out speaking or writing a word and no one tried to change or correct her paintings. For the first time in her life people just took it in and finally listened to her voice. Not only has Danielle courageously wrote and illustrated "Drawn To Sea" she wanted no help, no outside proof reading, and not a moment of outside influence as she bravely published her book. In the introduction of her book, Danielle gives a stern, yet loving synopsis of what is to come on the journey through her book:

"The times I spent worrying about my "problem" robed me of "problem solving" in the present. I simply just didn't think I was good enough, or brave enough to write. Writing and reading was my "curse" and the stigma of that curse followed me around, screaming "don't put yourself in that position. What will people think?"  Since all we have, is the present, I decided that I would rather publish a book with a million errors, then nothing at all. If I gave up and didn't follow through on writing this book, my purpose, my messages, and my hard work would be wasted, and become matter, that didn't matter. If I gave up, I was also giving up on others out there who needed to know that perfection is an illusion, and imperfection is our beauty. In this present moment the worry of failure, the worry of the world and it’s attraction to perfection can kiss my ass. With that said, I proof read my own work and choose to get no outside help to influence or "fix" my art work, or words. I always have been, and always will be open to learning, however, I am also open to acceptance, and this book is my way of letting go of things that I will never be able to change.  I choose to publish my book as is, because because I built my entire life with this imperfection and proved that it was actually my treasure, my GIFT. What I have to offer is exactly that, imperfect but 100% love, dedication, hard work, and something that I have FINALLY accepted and embraced. If you find a misspelled word, or bad grammar, I hope you find the beauty in it, not the flaw. And if you can only focus on the flaw, and not the message, then this book, and my work was not made to serve you."
